Fall Into Autumn Online event ON NOW! $50 Giveaway

Welcome to our "Fall Into Autumn" Online Event!  Over the next 4 days, we will be offering you some NEW & festive fall designs in wool & cotton.  We will also be sharing some of our FAV fall recipes, fall adventures & decorating ideas with each of you.  Let's get started!

Happy FALL!

Here in Minnesota, we are blessed to experience all 4 seasons!  Of course FALL is my favorite!  I grew up amongst the oaks and the apple trees up North!  Oaks leaves and maple leaves are still my FAV leaves to date!  The maple leaves would change daily and they seemed to last the longest.

Since we lived out in the country, we spent a lot of time outside & being creative.  I can't tell you how many leaves I collected, and pressed between the Montgomery Wards catalogs to dry.  Each one was so perfect, yet unique in shape & size.  I can still remember how crisp & fragile they became.  And the smell... there is nothing like fresh fallen leaves... oh, the joys of fall!

Since we had acreage, leaves were a plenty and raking was a weekly event!  It was usually Great Grandma Lily & I out raking her hard.  She would get the most leaves, in the smallest area.  We had so much fun and used some old fashioned rakes that were not the easiest to use!  However, it didn't stop us from making huge piles of leaves for the neighbor kids & I to jump in and out of!  It was so fun!

My dad loved to plant and grow apple trees!  It was always so neat to see the fruit of his labor in the fall.  Now, with living in the cities, we have enjoyed going to our local area's apple orchards.  One of our favorite orchards is Aamodt's in Stillwater.  It is about a half hour away, is ranked the 3rd in the nation and is known for the best apple picking, hayrides & more.  It has been fun to go there over the years and create many fond memories with our daughters there.

Sicne we are talking about apples... I have a couple of apple recipes to share with you today!  The first one is simple, but tasty recipe.  It is Caramel Apple nachos!  I have served this at many parties.  I usually wait until the last minute to cut up the apples & dip them in lemon juice before I plate them.
I hope you enjoy it!

My next recipe is just perfect for using all those delicious apples you've picked up at the farmer's market or apple orchard!  It is Cinnamon Apple Bread.  I like to use the cinnamon mixture from Pampered Chef!  It is my FAV!

Before I share some of our NEW & EXCITING fall designs & goodies with you... I thought I would share a few ideas that you could do with your pumpkins!  I LOVE pumpkins!  I love all the different varieties, colors & shapes they come in!  Mixing & matching is always fun!  Of course, adding a little bittersweet & a mum here of there never hurts!

At the BASIN... fall is around every corner in the shop!  We have been working very hard to bring you some of the best designs of the season!  Here is a start... remember, we have 3 more days of fall fun coming up so we wanted to be sure to save some for each day!  We also have a Daily Giveaway going on too!  Each time  you order, your name will go into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate!  You can order as many times as you want through Saturday as we are giving away 4 gift certificates, 1 each day!

Here is a sneak peek of what you can find today on our website under "Shop Online" & "Fall Into Autumn Online Event"!  Be sure to head over to our website if you see anything you would like order while our items are in stock!

Pattern Giveaway, NEWS & More

Are we ready for "LUCKY" Friday pattern giveaway over on our FB page?!?  I felt like Santa sending out lots of products to the LF winners this week!!!  I love it!  Check those mailboxes... Lots of goods are on the "sleigh" heading your way!!!

Before I go any further... I can't wait to share this fantastic NEWS with you!  I know many of you have been waiting with anticipation for new fabric line(s) from me!!  Well... I'm so excited to finally be able to make that happen with a new, reputable company, many of you know and love!  I am so excited... I'm blessed to be given opportunities to work with people who believe in & support my vision!  Great things are on the horizon gals... I LOVE fresh starts!!!!

Ok... I did it!  I got out all your goods but 5 orders (waiting on wool for kits)!!! I am old school and manually do everything...which also means going to the post office to ship them!  The postmasters have been soooo awesome about working with the volume of my packages {twice a day} for the last 2 weeks!  I'm so grateful!  I'm bringing them a treat tomorrow since they graciously put up with totes & totes of orders to ship and even thanked me for being so great/easy to work with!  So sweet!  And on that note... I don't know how the postmasters do it during this hectic time of year!!!  I can't believe how impatient & not polite folks are!  I say spread good cheer & make it merry!!!  So big thanks to the Fridley PO crew!  You guys ROCK!!!!

This weekend I'll be putting up more kits & the new Simply Vintage magazine online!  I had to cut more kits {since our lovely website oversold the quantity I put available}!  So while I was cutting... I cut more kits for the Truck Full of Joy pattern, that sold out right away!  So be sure to keep an eye out this weekend for that along with more goodies!!!  I also cut more BOM, Snowmen Sock and Americana Crow on Spool kits... those are available now!

Thanks for making my Sunday last weekend over on our FB page!  Your comments were awesome!  I felt so much better when I realized I wasn't the only one who hadn't put the tree up yet!  I tell Ya- I shouldn't even look on Instagram or Pinterest...  Some have been posting their Holiday decorating for weeks!!!  How do they to it????  I'm just happy we got the tree up & decorated!!!!  Yeehaw!!!!  So that's my "holiday" update!  Keep sharing your pics!  I love seeing them so much!!!

In family news... Grace went ice skating for the first time and loved it!  Then both girls went to the KDWB 2015 Jingle Ball concert!  They had a great time and seen a variety of artists!  Then tomorrow I'm taking a day off, having lunch with my hubby & then we're hitting a movie....and I'm going to a Christmas Event at church with my friend Shelly!!!  Should be a great start to the weekend!!!

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday & weekend!!!  Please pop me a comment or a pic over on our FB page for a chance to win these patterns!   Wonder what you've been up to!  I'm betting it's finishing up those Christmas gifts, baking cookies & spreading good cheer!!!!!

Before I go... Here's a great, quick & easy holiday snack mix recipe for you!  It's called Christmas Crack!  It's delicious!!!!!  Enjoy!

Hello!!!  Welcome back!  Here it is!  I knew Joan, from Bits and Pieces would have a cute design to share with you!  I want to make sure and post this on the top so you can click the link and go right there!  Big thanks to Joan!  You're awesome!

Today was a super busy day at the Basin!  It was also a perfect day to work late!  It was chilly and rained all day!  It's so different then yesterday!  Yesterday I did a photo shoot with the girls for our Chrisrnas cards!  It was sunny & gorgeous out!  It made for great photos!  I'm happy to say our Christmas card is designed and being printed!  So excited!  Can you believe Christmas is just about a month away?  I can hear those sleigh bells jingling now!!!!

Up today is Lisa, from Primitive Gatherings!  I know she's had a lot on her plate, including getting ready for her shop's Holiday open house... so I'm excited she was able to make time to be a part of the hop!  We all appreciate it!!!   Be sure to check out her recipe, too!  I think it sounds amazing!  Anything with PB, Rice Krispies and chocolate has to be yummy!  I can't wait to make this!

Let's keep the hop rolling and head over to Lisa's blog for another day of Holiday fun on my annual Christmas blog hop!  Enjoy!  See you tomorrow for our final day of the hop!!!!

Today on the hop brings a new friend of mine.... Who will it be?!?

Who would think that {Day 10} on the blog hop would bring a snowflake kite!  Don't you just love it!  Of course... Only Meg would think of that!!!  Too cute!  Here's the stitchery pattern she shared, so make sure you go to her site and get the pattern!  It's sooo cute... you can keep it out all winter long!!!

Up today on our lovely Christmas JOY blog hop is a long time friend of mine, Joan, from Bits and Pieces by Joan!  She's a California girl who loves working in wool!  She's not a blogger or facebooker {yet}... but she does great designs and offers them through her website!  So make sure you go there to get another great pattern for the Holidays!!!

***Edited at 2pm 11/16.  Sorry there is no project up on the site as of yet.  I'm assuming Joan will get something up at some point today.  Thanks for your emails/concerns!

When we were at market Joan made fresh peanut brittle!  It was delicious!  She also made it with cashews!  Not sure if this is the recipe she uses, but I thought I would share it with you!  My mom also made this growing up!  I remember her making many batches of it and my dad and I would deliver it, along with other Holiday goodies to family & friends during the Holiday Season!  So fun!  See you again tomorrow!!!!

It's Meg's day today on the hop!!

Happy Sunday!  Its hard to believe we only have 4 days left of the hop!  Time sure flies when you are having fun!  Speaking of fun... did you enjoy Pam, from Heartspun Quilts little Santa!?!  I sure did!  It sounds like she likes to whip stitch instead of blanket stitching!  The great part... either one works very well... so do what you prefer!  And how about that stuffed mushroom recipe?  I'm betting a lot of you will be trying out that recipe!!!!

Today was a very busy day!  The majority of the day included getting a new furnace and air conditioner in!  We upgraded and are already feeling the difference!  So excited to "be warm" as winter could be here any day!  Then this afternoon we drove down for Gracie's dance comp.  it was their first one of the year!  Always a great time!

Now back to the hop!  Up on this lovely Sunday for {Day 10} of the hop is Meg, from Crabapple Hill!  She's our stitcher girl!  I'm predicting "winter flurries & happy snowmen" to warm your heart!  If you're new to Meg's work... she has established an amazing technique that combines coloring & stitching!  It's so awesome!  So be sure to click the link and go enjoy a day of stitching & hot cocoa!!!  Enjoy!

Here is another fantastic appetizer recipe from Meg!  We sure are getting a great array of recipes!  So exciting!  See you back here tomorrow as the hop continues....

Who is up today, {Day 9} of our Christmas JOY blog hop?

Welcome back to our celebration of Christmas JOY!  It was so great to see Kathy's "joyous" project!  I don't know about you, but I give a lot of gift cards away during the Holiday Season!  I think this was a great idea!  How perfect would this be to give to your woodie friends or sewing pal?  Plus, they could use it as an ornament and tuck in a little letter from Santa!!!  How cute would that be hanging on your tree!  That's what's so fun... we all love to inspire!!!!  Please make sure to stop back at Kathy, from the Cottage at Cardiff Farms if you missed this!

Today I snuck out after I picked up Hannah from school with my friend Laura.  We went to a boutique and then to a gift store.  It was so fun!  I picked up a few handmade items to give as gifts, 2 boxes of vintage Christmas ornaments & 5 vintage Christmas corsages {can't leave any of those behind!}!!!  Then at the gift store I purchased a few more gifts!  I'm so excited to be starting early this year!!!  I know it's not "that" early... But typically I start after Thanksgiving and then I feel so rushed!  I've already got my style down of wrapping/embellishing so I'm ready to start wrapping!!! Lol!  Tis the season!!!!!

Up today on {Day 9} of our Christnas JOY blog hop is Pam, from Heartspun Quilts!  Since I've seen a little sneak peek... I will tell you it could be a design of a jolly old fellow!  He may even wear a red suit and give toys to good girls & boys!!!!  I'm thinking you've got a good idea of what it could be...  so head over to her blog and see if you're correct!!!

Christmas JOY Blog Hop is in full swing!

Oh my gosh!  One of my favorite parts about the blog hop is reading the posts that the designers write while posting their project!  Jeni's story was just priceless!  The poor tree & boys... thinking the tree fell down the river!!!  I can just see it now!   I love how they call it the "Griswald Family Christmas Story!"  I'm betting it's a story none of them will ever forget!!!  Thanks Jeni for sharing that great Holiday memory with us all!

Here's Jeni's project!  It's super cute!  Make sure you print it off and add it to your collection!!!!

As I've been following along on our Christmas JOY hop... I've been wondering how many of you have been starting on some of these darling projects!  I was also thinking how neat it would be to have a little section {including a little tree} to dedicate to our Chrsimas blog hops that we've done the last few years!  If any of you have made some projects from this hop or previous hops and displayed them... Please share pictures of them to our Buttermilk Basin  Facebook page!  We'd love to see them!!!

Up today on {Day 8} is Kathy, from The Cottage at Cardiff Farms!  I'm glad she's a part of the hop again, as she's been quite busy!  She recently moved and is now closer to her daughter!  And... I'm so excited that she found the perfect home with a little cottage on it!  I'd love to have a little cottage on our property too!!!  You don't see many of them here in the Twin Cities!  I'll just have to keep it on my bucket list!  Have fun hopping over to her blog!

Oh!!!  How darling is this feather tree that Lori, from Notforgotten Farm designed for you all!  So simple.. yet soooo stunning!  And the oval frame is such a great added touch!  There is something about a feather tree that always excites me!!!  This hop truly is special!  Hope you're enjoying it... as we move along to {Day 7} of our Christmas JOY blog hop!

Up today is Jeni from Woolen Willow Designs!  I was lucky enough to be by them down in Houston!  Jeni and her sisters are so awesome!  I'm so thankful to be apart of their magazine, Primitive Quilts!  I'm also super excited for you all to get out there and buy Jeni's new book!  It's awesome!  I'm sure she'll have info on her blog!  Head on over and enjoy another marvelous day {where the weather is always perfect} here in blog land!

Another fantastic day on the blog hop....

Welcome Everyone!  It's another cheery day here on the Christmas JOY Blog Hop!  I was so excited when I seen the multi medium JOY design from Ali yesterday!  For those of you who haven't tried rug hooking or needle felting... Ali designed the perfect project for you to give it a whirl!  And who knows, you could fall in love with those two mediums and be on to a new hobby!!!!  If you missed it... Here it is!

Be sure to go back to each of the previous blog hop days if you are just joining us!  You don't want to miss some great designs and delicious recipes!!!

I also thought I would share this free printable with you!  Isn't it darling?  All you need to do is print it and frame it!  And now your Holiday decorating has begun!!!

Up today on the hop is Lori from Notforgotten Farm!  It should be another great project!  I wonder what it could be?!?  Are you thinking cross stitch, like I am?!?  You better head over to her page and see!!!  Don't miss her recipe too!  Anything with candy canes and chocolate has to be good!  I'm so trying it out this year!!  She said the cookies go great with a mug of steaming hot chocolate!!!!  I love it!!!
