NEW WOOL! Fargo Indian Summer Quilt Show

Hey!  Just had to share some of the wool that came in and I picked up last night from a friend of mine who dyes some amazing pieces!  I will be ripping it into fat quarters and fat 1/8ths.  I will have some at the Indian Summer Quilt Show in Fargo, ND September 26-28.  I will also have save some of it for the Fall-O-Ween open house at the shop!

The last couple of days I also dropped off a few things for the gals to stitch.  I will have some patterns and kits for the new designs at both places as well provided we get them done in time!  I also have a bunch of patterns from some of my fav designers - we are working on models of those new designs as well!  We are rolling at the BASIN!  Yeehaw! :)  Have a great day girls!

Got WOOL?

Hey!  I spent a good hour and a half last night setting up things on my phone to make it possible to do a post from there with pictures.  Well... After I did all the work and went to post... It didn't post!  So- you are getting the shortened version today since I am at work and have to leave soon to drive up to a gal's home who dyes wool!  I am getting a boat load from her today!!! Yahoo!  Not to mention I received two big orders from an old fav dyer and a new one also this week!  I really am stocking the shop for the fall event!  I also got in huge boxes of primitive decor!  My friend Judith was there to help me unpack all the goods and she wanted one of everything!  My event is going to be so awesome!  Then I spent the rest of yesterday cleaning the shop... YUCK!  I am one that flies in, makes a tornado mess and feels just fine working in my madness!  Hey- I know where everything is!  LOL!  Anyone else love working in their madness!?!?!  Alright- better rock!  Lots to do and see! Enjoy your day and MARK YOUR CALENDARS to come see me at the events!  I guarantee it will be worth your while!  I may not be the biggest shop but I have GOOD shit! :)

Lost a good friend today...

I am so sad... Today I lost a good friend and a very supportive BB fan.
Jean was 48 and lost her battle to cancer.  She was diagnosed after mom this spring and there were a couple of times they were actually in the hospital together...
I never dreamt she would pass away this soon.

The minute Jean walked thru the doors of Buttermilk Basin, we clicked!  She was one of my first workshop students here at the shop.  I taught her how to do wool applique.  She was left handed and had a dickens of a time grasping the technique of reversing the image to be fuse ready and learning the blanket stitch.  We laughed so hard in that class!  I will never forget it! Ever since she had been swinging in restocking her punch needle supply, showing off her latest projects including her latest, needle turn applique.  She worked in the printing industry and on her way home most Thursday nights she would stop in and we would chat, laugh and cry until it got late!  We shared the love of handwork, taking in cats, loving a good recipe... She help me with my photo shoot for market and even offered to clean the back room for me... She helped us load the trailer and more importantly... she became my friend and really supported me and helped me believe in me during some very difficult days.  Words can not express how important my customers are to me.
You guys are a huge piece of me (and I bet you don't even know it!)

So Jean.. Girl, YOU were the bomb!  You were strong, beautiful and always made me laugh! I will miss you so much and thank you for introducing me to our friend Erin (a huge blessing)... I will miss you on Thursday nights, hearing your crazy stories, seeing your sweet smile, twinkle in your eyes and your hugs!  Love ya girl!
PS * Erin and I got your message today!  You will not be forgotten!!! XOXO

Buttermilk Basin Events!

Happy September!
This past week has been a blur!  Between working long hours at the studio, my computer needing to go in for repair (while trying to get my new website to go live)... to orders flying in for all those fabulous quilt shows that are all around the country - I am having a blast & running on low sleep!  More importantly, I am also trying to enjoy these last summers with my family before the girls go back to school!

This is going to be a great year for the girls!  Hannah is starting 9th grade (her first year of high school)!  She has a big load - she is starting to take her first few collage courses... Crazy!  It blows my mind!  She is also very eclectic in her style - it has been so fun to shop with her for her new school wear!  She LOVES Converse and has way too many to count!  My youngest daughter Grace will be going into 6th grade!  She will now be a big middle schooler!  This is her first year to have her own school locker - so of course, she had to get the coolest stuff to deck it out!  I can not believe how fast they are growing up!

If you are a Minnesotan like me - you would look forward to this time of year also because it is State Fair time!  And let me tell you... We have the best fair and way too many "goodies on a stick" to count!  We have been there 4 times with our last time being tomorrow (which is also the last day)!  We have tried new foods like the deep fried cream cheese filled olives, enjoyed some favorites like the strawberry & creme crepes, deep fried cheese curds, Sweet Martha's cookies (mine are better if you ask me!), and hit a couple concerts including Macklemore with the girls.  The weather this past week was hot and humid... It finally cooled off last night and should be nice again tomorrow!

On a work note- I couldn't wait to get this Country Register newspaper ad up on the blog.  I am so pumped to have 2 amazing events for you!  These will reflect my two favorite Holidays... Halloween & Christmas!  I will be completely re-doing the shop for each event.  I have been ordering lots of new yummy colored wool, folkart and even made a few things too!  I also have designed new patterns to be released at each event.  There is so much more to talk about in these upcoming weeks as the events come closer!!! I really hope you each can make it because you are going to have a blast!  Get your brooms out and get ready to fly on over to the Witches Night Out!  I will be trying my new recipes I have searched high and low for just for that night!  I can't wait!!!
