A Primitive Christmas Blog Hop sadly comes to an end...

Merry Christmas Everyone!
First off, I want to thank each and everyone of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to follow our A Primitive Christmas Blog Hop!  I hope you have enjoyed the recipes, pictures, stories and ornaments designed just for you!  During the Holiday Season, is it important to sit down, relax and get caught up in the magic of this delightful time of year!  My hope is that our hop helped capture that "magic" and inspired you to give handmade!  If nothing else... give yourself the gift of making an ornament just for you each Christmas!  I love to make an ornament each year to give to my girls... It is something that they will have for years to come...

Secondly, I would like to give a HUGE thank you to all 11 gals who made this possible!  Each one is over the top talented, kind and such a pleasure to work with!  It is always fun to join together and share our talents and give back to each of you!  Without each of YOU, we would not be following our hearts and making our dreams come true!  On to my post... Enjoy!

SNOWMAN HEART ORNAMENT
Supplies: Scraps of Black, Cream, Red, Gold & Orange Wool * Coordinating Floss to match wool selection plus brown for arms * 10 inches of thin black ribbon * small cream beads * 2 -1/4 inch black buttons * Pinking shears

Instructions: Trace and cut out each wool design piece. Glue-Baste each piece in place on black wool.  I left a 1/2 inch all the way around the heart to trim later with the pinking shears. Use 2 strands of coordinating floss to blanket stitch around each piece.  Sew cream beads on for snow, 2 black buttons down front of snowman, use 6 strands of cream floss to stitch snowflake on if you would like making a plus sign and then adding lines as shown on picture for snowflake, use 6 strands of brown floss to stitch arms on snowman, use 6 strands of black floss to make French knots for eyes. Once your stitching is complete, use your pinking shears to trim around the entire edge of the black wool.  Tie on a black string, hang and enjoy!

This year we are scrambling to redo the upstairs while my mother went back home for a couple of weeks... The ceiling guy, the painter and the electrician have just finished up... hence NO Holiday decor!  GRRR!  SOO to share a little Holiday decorating, inspiration and ideas with you - I headed up to my FAV shop, Round Barn Potting Co.  Words can not describe how cool her shop is!  It is in an old red barn.  It is always one of my fav places to do some Holiday shopping for those "creative" people in my life!  Here is her blog - stop over and tell Lori I sent you her way!  You will not be disappointed! http://roundbarnpottingco.blogspot.com

My Holiday Cookie Recipe!

I LOVE to bake and cook!  Each year I bake cookies for those far and near!  Too me, there is nothing more exciting then giving!  So I spend hours checking out new and old fav recipes... I make my list, gather my ingredients and put on my new handmade apron (gift from a special friend!) and start in!  This year the theme is simple and quick as I am out of time and my youngest daughter Grace is assisting me!  Today I (Mrs. Claus) sent out these tins full off cookies... Then I came home and baked a ton more for round two which is for all the teachers and helpers at Gracie's elementary school!  And yes... there is still more to do!!!  :)  PS ~ The cookies are the white powdered sugar coated ones to the bottom right in tin!

For those of you who do not know... George and I are blessed with two darling young girls that we are always excited to be with during this magical time of year!  From Orchestra concerts at the Mall of America, to volunteering for parties, band concerts for Grace to Holiday Sing Alongs at the elementary school... We manage to get it all in!  I rarely miss an event or special time in their lives... So without further ado... My two lovelies...  Grace and Hannah

 MY GIFT TO YOU!
In closing, I want thank you for helping me be able to follow my dreams, do something I enjoy everyday and most importantly... be present to raise my two young gals and be a care taker for my terminally ill mother who needs a double lung transplant but has opted not to get one at this time... My handwork is my saving grace... It helps ease the mind when I worry mom will not make it thru another challenge and keeps me busy while I am at the doctors with her for hours on end... It helps pass the time while I am waiting in the car pool line at the girls' schools... and one thing I will always treasure is that it has connected me with each of you!  Whether I see you at a show, across the country at a class I am teaching... or through an email - I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to be a tiny part of your life!  I wish you and your family a blessed Holiday Season filled with much love, laughter and memories!
I look forward to spending 2013 with each of you!

My gift to you.. Please leave a comment about your Holiday or Holidays past and I will draw 12 lucky gals name and give them a month membership to my Wool N Needle Club for January!  I will ship it directly to you! How fun is that!

Merry Christmas from the Wests...
George, Stacy, Hannah & Grace

Love this very cute ornament! However i cannot seem to download it - don't know what I am doing wrong. My favourite Christmas memories are all around decorating the tree with some of the beautiful handmade ornaments sewn by my late mum - they are very precious and bring back such lovely memories.

I just love the snowman ornament! I have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren. The adults decided a long time ago to just buy gifts for the children but I always sneak in something special for my girls. I'm going to make the ornaments and attach them to their gifts this year. Thank you so much for organizing the Christmas blog hop. I've loved every minute of it!!

Thank you for the blog hop. I love the snowman ornament! Christmas in the past involved lots of extended family gathered together at my aunt's house for the traditional 7 Fishes Christmas Eve dinner, then we gathered at our house on Christmas Day for a multi-course feast. Now that we live over 1,000 miles away from everyone, our Christmas is small and quiet and just the 5 of us. And just one course! It is all still good!

Stacy, you are a phenomenon! I so appreciate the work you did to put this blog hop together. For the past four weeks I have been so delighted to visit the designers' blogs to read their Christmas memories, view pictures, drool over the recipes, and best of all - see the ornaments/ decorations they have shared with us. Your snowman is fantastic! Can't wait to start stitching! Best wishes for you and your family, and bless you for taking such good care of your mom. This is our first Christmas without Mom and we miss her dearly. Christmas memories last forever and bring us comfort and joy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I've enjoyed the hop so much! Thank you for taking the time to organize. I love your little ornament, I'm planning a quilty/wool tree for next year, so that one will definitely be on the list. Looking forward to having family here for Christmas, being together and sharing the celebration of our Saviour's birth with them! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Merry Christmas and thanks so much for hosting the blog hop. It's so much fun to read about everyone's Christmas traditions. You put together a wonderful group of designers. Thanks for the blog hop...it's been fun visiting with the different designers...

Christmas always brings wonderful memories of my maternal grandmother...she planned for it all year...saving paper and bows from year to year...stitching quilts, doll clothes and making ip sewing baskets for gifts...the big party was her house Christmas Eve...

the greatest gift I received from her was my love of handwork...for which I am daily grateful...

Merry Christmas!

Your post is wonderful. Thank you so much for doing this blog hop - it has been so great - awesome recipes and patterns...just a ton of fun. We make our Christmas tree pendants into tree ornaments each year and give them to family members. Another tradition is an annual cookie bake at our house - which is tomorrow! I'm excited because we had snow yesterday (I'm in Iowa!) and glad we will have a white Christmas. Thanks again for all that you do! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thanks so much for putting together the blog hop. It's been so much fun. Our family is small now, just four of us so Christmas is just a nice quiet evening usually spent snacking and playing a game, but's it's fun. When my grandmother was still with us she would always make Lefse for Christmas and I use to look so forward to it and her swedish meatballs. Merry Christmas!

Thank you, Stacy, for this wonderful Christmas Blog Hop. I have enjoyed all my favorite bloggers and loved meeting the new gals. It is helping me continuing with the tradition of making ornaments for some nieces and nephews (18 in all) and though some will be too old soon (I stop at 16 yrs of age), I will have fun creating your heart for next year. And I am going to start early!! (always say that and yet this year it was last week when I finished this years treat. So, Merry Christmas to you and your family. May your year be filled with God's blessings.

Until the Magazine Primitive Quilts and Projects came out, I did not know this wonderful world of primitives which I have come to love. Through the artists of the magazine I came to this wonderful blog hop - I didn't know either that such blop hops existed, so all in all I'm very happy to have been able to follow all the stories recipes and designs and I hope that I one day have collected so much wool that I also can make the ornaments. Wool projects are not known to people of my country, Denmark, we always make quilts and so on in cotton. Thanks for this wonderful idea.

First I want to thank YOU for the wonderful blog hop. I enjoyed it so much and knowing how busy you are - I thank you for all you do for us. It seems like you have such wonderful memories. I'm from south Texas and my memories of Christmas is getting the whole "familia" together and make homemade tamales. The laughter and great stories my dad would tell us when he was little and just being together is what I will cherish the most. Besides eating the delicious tamales! My Mom is 88 years old and no longer can make the tamales. The memories will always be with me.

Thank you so much for sharing your cute ornament. Our families only buy gifts for the children, however every year I like to make just a little something handsewn or crafted along with some sweet treat for each family, and this year it will be some of the fun ornaments from this blog hop! I love your patterns, and have two of them I plan on working on during my Christmas vacation time. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much for the chance to win. You are so right about the stitching being a saving grace. It allows me to have a few minutes of my own time.
I really enjoy your designs.
Blessings to you and Merry Christmas.
Again-thanks.

I think most of us think back to Christmases when we were growing up for those special memories. Money was really tight when I grew up but our Christmas tree was a sight to behold. We tramped the hills to pick just the right one and always ended up with one that was huge! To this day, friends and cousins still talk to me about our fabulous trees.

Thanks so much for organizing this blog hop. I have found several fun things to add to the "to-do" list. And some great recipes, too!

Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the chance to win! For me Christmas is the decorated tree and Christmas cookies. As a little girl I remember sitting in front of our tree just mesmerized. Today my tree still has that same power. It is an old fashioned tree with predominately hand made ornaments: painted, carved, sewn. Once the tree is up my thoughts turn to making cookies for gifts. A very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Two years ago we had snow on Christmas day. That might not seem like much to some people but I live in southern TN and in my 41 years I had NEVER had a white Christmas. We woke up early, opened our presents and my husband happened to look outside; SNOW! It was coming down fast and thick. We ended up with about 5-6" of snow. I was like a little kid, playing, sledding, building a snowman. That truly was the best Christmas present I've ever received.

I have so many Christmas memories, the best being from when I was a young girl and our family was so big on my Mom's side that our Memere would hire the local town hall to have a huge Christmas party for her whole family. Everything from Santa to music and even square dancing called by her sister Noella and hubby. It is still something that us grown grandchildren love to talk about. Now I have my own grandchildren to enjoy and every moment with them is a joy in itself all through the year. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Grace and Hannah are beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us. This will be our first Christmas with no kids living at home, so not sure how we'll handle it. We head to my sister's home for Christmas dinner and I'll get to see my girls there.

Thank you for the great blog hop. Merry Christmas and Blessings to you and your family!

Stacy...thank you for you most grateful and interesting post. I'm sending up a prayer for your Mom and your family. I'm sure you are looking forward to your Mom's return. Also, I love your patterns and have many of them. I have a passion for making things out of wool and love your designs as they all fit so well with my home decor. I pray you will have a joyful Christmas and an extremely great 2013.

Merry Christmas to you and thank you for the inspiring blog hop...keep them coming. My favorite Christmas memory is caroling around our neighborhood with my 5th grade class and ending the evening with a cup of hot chocolate...good times from the past.

Merry Christmas to one and all! I've always loved making gifts for family or friends for Christmas. And I love receiving homemade gifts, too. Thank you for the fun blog hop.

It's been a terrific blog hop! Thank you!!
Every Christmas morning for the past several years I wake up early and fix Danish Aebleskivers for whoever is at home, family, or friends. They are a fried round donut type pastry filled with a little piece of apple. It is so much fun and I look forward to this every year.

I really enjoy the blog hop and meeting new friends. The ornament is adorable, thanks so much. Christmas is all about family being together and enjoying a fun day together.

Hi Stacy,

I 'm so sorry about your Mother. I will keep her in my prayers. Your daughters are so cute. I love the time you spend with them. I was always real close with my mother and sister. We always baked tons for Christmas cookies together. My sister and I would spend long hours wrapping presents and decorating them to perfection. Christmas comes way to fast now and I have a hard time keeping up.
Happy Holidays,

My favorite memory is of the homemade fireplace my dad and uncle made. It was made of plywood and painted like bricks, we hung our stockings from it. It had a moter that moved cellaphane flames. My brothers and I loved to sit in front of it waiting for Santa. Thank you for the blog hop. I have really enjoyed the fun.

Hi Stacy,

Oh my gosh. The end of your posting is beyond touching. You have to know how much you touch our lives too with your incredible talent. You are a wonderful mom and a wonderful daughter. God will take care of all of you. Merry Christmas dear and thank you for being you.

Christmas Memory: On Christmas Eve, we would get into the car for a Christmas "Light" ride and when we came back home, the presents were magically under the tree. We missed Santa coming down the chimney every single year due to the car ride. It took me 10 years to figure it all out. :-)

Merry Christmas. Thank you for the beautiful snowman ornament and cookie recipe. The Christmas blog hop was fun - a very special gift.
Hope you have a blessed Christmas.

You know its sad, I didnt think anyone made tins full of cookies as gifts anymore. Im the only one I know that even bakes. My mom was the one that use to send the goodie tins. Shes been gone for 16 years. I miss her!

My Christmas memories always include baking special cookies to share with friends. I baked with my dear mother, together we baked with my son and daughter. I still use her special recipes. I do alot of my baking alone (tho dh is here to encourage and sample) but mom is with me in spirit and soon our daughter will join us for last minute cookies.

Thank you so much for the wonderful blog hop. I enjoyed each post and every one of the wonderful ornaments. Every year since 1969 when my oldest brother got married my mother started the tradition of a family Christmas sometime during the week between Christmas and New Year's. This tradition still happens to this day.As my family grew with children, grand children and now great grand children we have stopped the swapping of gifts
since there would be no room for people. Now we share great food, wonderful stories from our lives the past year and lots of love at our Holiday Gathering. It is a very special time for the entire family and we look forward to it every year.

Memories , memories, memories, oh so many lovely ones there are... I will be 48 this December 24th and I have a childhood memory of when I was about 6. When you went into the school there was this enormous open area that had a tree that went clear to the ceiling of what seemed to me now of at least 30 feet. It was all decorated and lit up beautiful and seemed to go on forever... The whole school would go out and hold hands around this tree and we would sing Christmas songs. I'll never forget it was the first time I had heard the song, "Up On The Housetop" and everyone one clicked. I thought Magic was happening all around me and to this day when I hear that song it makes me want to cry from goosebumps from that memory when I was a kid! They gave us all a little cardboard box of candy for Christmas in the shape of a house and it felt like a million dollars... You never know what you do for a kid will be their memory forever! Merry Christmas to you all!!!!

Stacy... it is "we" who must thank you for your wonderful work, loving dedication to the art and sweet, sweet, spirit! As a designer myself... I can truly appreciate how working in your art is your savior... what in the world would we do if we didn't stitch and sew? I can't even imagine. Some day... (I can't wait) to be able to attend a retreat with you, get to know you better, and bask in the sunshine of you just being you! I honestly know how hard it is to keep up with the designs, the blogging, and everything else you do. I am thanking YOU for your wonderful work and love for all of us. Merry Christmas sweet girl!!! Thank you for a fabulous Christmas blog hop! I love that in spite of not being able to decorate your home, you found meaningful ways to enjoy the holiday. We have slowly begun a new holiday tradition with some of our neighbors. We all tend to attend the same Mass on Christmas Eve. We started with having dessert and drinks at one of our homes after the service. This year one of the families is returning from out-of-town for a parent's funeral. We are making a big meal, pot-luck style and celebrating together after Mass. We have become extended family for each other. What a blessing!

Thank you for such a wonderful blog hop! I'm adjusting to again another Christmas without my grandma (who was really more like my mom). She passed last year in April. My fondest memories are being with her and my grandpa on Christmas mornings. Now they celebrate their anniversary and Christmas together in Heaven, as I build Christmas memories here on earth with my two young boys.

Thank you for the great Blog Hop. Everyone had such great ornaments and recipes and stories. At our house we have many traditions. Even though my youngest is 16, my 4 children kept up the tradition of getting up early - 7:15! That was a tradition we were hoping to give up!

Discovered Buttermilk Basin patterns at the Houston Quilt Festival in November and can't get enough. I accidentally bought one pattern twice - the cute SNOW wall hanging/runner. My friend was delighted when I shared the duplicate pattern with her. At Festival I signed up for the mini quilt BOM and am now returning to my wool quilting roots. Merry Christmas and I hope 2013 is good to you!
