NEW FALL & Halloween Designs * Giveaway * Online & Shop Event info

Happy “LUCKY” Monday!  I am doing our normal “LUCKY” Friday post tonight, since I was a bit under the weather last week!  So… Monday it is!  Plus, we have a few NEW designs/kits that many of you are waiting for so I wanted to let you know the website is filled with NEW & RESTOCKED KITS!

Today I am giving away 12 kits of our NEW Fall Hexi Mat! over on our FB page!  This mat is filled with a few of my FAV fall things!  I loved how the pumpkin & sunflower played into the Hexi!  It’s always fun putting a creative spin on my designs!  The colors on the mat are perfect!  We coordinated it to go with the Sept Hexi Door Greeter & Fall Project that was featured in American Patchwork & Quilting!
Also on the web now. is the next CHALK IT UP! October Pattern & KIT!  I thought I loved the September one the most… but easily… this one is SPOOK-TAC-U-LAR!  I love it!  It was funny how this one came about.  I knew I wanted it Halloween themed and started with the words “Trick or Treat” and added the wool Halloween themed pieces at the bottom.  Next thing I knew… I did it the wrong size! LOL!  {It happens to the best of us!}  SEW… I ended up adding a bat to the top & a spider web between the words…and waa laaa…. It became the perfect size!  Looking back, I couldn’t imagine it without the bat on the top now!  So, don’t let the little “oopsies” get you down!

Sometimes, it ends up working out better than you had planned!

If you are doing the Bringing Home the Tree BOM, the final finishing kit is now available.  The best part, it includes the same fabrics we used on our quilt!  This should tie your blocks together and once you are done… our quilts should be “twinning”!!!  Thanks for all of you who have been doing this BOM!  We still are offering it for those who have recently joined in!
OK, I should jump in and share a little personal tidbit with you!  Many of you know I am a HUGE Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas fan!  My hubby & I have been enjoying following them around for years and try to book our vacation (and even teaching gigs) around their schedule!  We have loved every concert and have enjoyed some perks like front row seats, VIP packages {with no meet & greets ☹) etc... However, this past Saturday, we were VIPS & had the opportunity to experience a meet & greet, sound check and Q & A…. We also got to hang out with them {briefly} before we took our pics with the band AND….. then … BEST PART {besides hugs all around and actually meeting Rob & the band} … we were fortunate to be on the side stage with them during the whole concert!  It was SOOOO AWESOME!  This opportunity almost didn’t happen!  {I know, right!!!}  Right before we were going on stage, they had to evacuate over 13,000 people as it was an outdoor concert and a thunderstorm was moving in!  However, the show did go on, and George and I had the time of our lives! I can’t believe we got to experience what they experience every night on stage.  The energy, the music, the lights, the crowd & the moments they came over and sang/played for us was indescribable.  I am so grateful for this opportunity and can’t believe how cool and down to earth they were!  I could totally hang with them at any time!  😊 They are fricken AWESOME!!!!!!  {Hope you all don’t think I am crazy now!!! HAHAHA!}
Now that I shared my exciting news with you all… we can get back to business!!!  I know many of you know about our Quilts-On-A-Stick Contest, however… some are just finding out {due to advertising} and they wanted to still get their quilts entered, so I am extending the deadline.  {Or you run into a customer when getting your labs done at the clinic- and she tells me that she and her friend have theirs started, but need more time! LOL!  True story!  {You should have seen us when we thought each looked familiar!  I wasn’t expecting her to be in a white lab coat! LOL!  Plus, we live in the Twin Cities!  Small world!}  However, just make sure it gets to us by next Wednesday or you will miss entering, as the voting starts on Wednesday evening at our Wine & Cheese Early Bird Shopping event!  So, hurry!!!!  You still have time!

WOOLSTOCK IS NEAR!  SIGN UP SOOOOON!  We are still getting sign ups with the adding room.  SEW if you are thinking about coming… let us know ASAP!  We have our menu’s planned, kits cut, treat bags ready, and want to make sure you get accounted for!  We are doing a CAMP theme… and everything is turning out so darn cute!  I am finalizing the COOL TSHIRTS tonight and will be placing my order tomorrow for them!   We are still getting in a TON of NEW goods in for it!  We received our shipment of our custom Buttermilk Basin project bags… LOVE!  Since last week, we also received over 100 bolts of NEW fabrics, TONS of NEW WOOL, we have also designed MANY new FALL projects etc.…  We will be working right up until the end to make this a GREAT EVENT &FUN SHOPPING EXPERINCE for you ALLLLLL!!!!!  At the very least… come shop at the Basin!
Sorry I was “Chatty Cathy”!  I just couldn’t wait to share all my news with you!  I hope you all have a great week!  And, be sure to keep posting your pics to our FB page!  Angela is now helping me get them shared!  You guys are so talented!  WE LOVE seeing your work!  Be sure to leave a comment on our FB page for a chance to win a kit!  Happy Stitching!

Happy, Happy, "LUCKY" Friday this Holiday weekend!! I am so glad to be back to give away some gorgeous WOOL Bundles, share some new designs/kits, and catch up with you this week!!!! I MISSED YOU ALL LAST WEEK!! {I will be giving away a dozen of the bundles, so make sure you comment as these will be great for your upcoming fall projects!!!!}

First off the wool bundles… each month we hand pick some of our FAV wool pieces & bundle them up just for you! You can either buy them each month or you can call us and set yourself up on autoship and have them shipped to your door each month! We have many customers that do this, and wanted to make sure everyone knows about this option!!!

Next… we have 1 of the NEW Hexi designs ready! If you haven't done any of our Hexi WORD Door Greeters yet - this is one you should consider doing! Our September design spells out the word FALL and it is a KEEPER! We love everything about his design! It captures the essence of fall!!! We have patterns & kits available on our website! We also have the final snowman block available for our Bringing Home the Tree BOM! Next month, we will release the finishing kit for the quilt. If you are on the fence about purchasing the kit - I would consider doing it soon.... as we are unsure if we have the time to repeat this as a BOM! As I mentioned in the video I shared earlier today, our kits are unlike any other kits you may purchase from somewhere else… our kits contain the same wool/cotton that we use in our designs or the next closest piece possible! We want you to feel confident when ordering our kits!

Do you LOVE HALLOWEEN like we do?  Then you won't want to miss out on our NEW & SPOOKTACULAR Haunting Pumpkins Halloween Quilt BOM!  This will be premiering at WOOLSTOCK & an exclusive to Buttermilk Basin!

We have SEW many fun things planned - you won't want to miss this one of a kind event! We will be putting up a full schedule early next week on our website.  You can find the info under events/contests! Don't forget - ANYONE can enter the Quilt on a Stick Contest too!!!  You don't need to attend WOOLSTOCK to participate! So getting creating and send your quilt our way! We would love to have your quilt in our contest! Plus… we have GREAT prizes! 1st $150 2nd$100 & 3rd $50 in BB gift certificates!

At the shop… We are rocking it!  My two new gals are doing great! Diana has been here 2 weeks now & Jessica has 1 week under her belt! I have such big plans and am so lucky to have good help to move forward! Everyone is off to enjoy the Holiday weekend - so please note we are closed on Monday!

On the home front … my girls are growing up way to fast! We moved Hannah in her dorm room on Tuesday. She doesn't have a roommate. She had wanted one, but by the time they got to her, they were down to single rooms. At first she was a little bummed, but now that she is in - she loves it!!! It was a bittersweet moment… not going to lie.. this momma is emotional and there have been a few tears shed! Luckily, everything is going great for her and she is already making new friends! She is only 20 minutes away so in the big scheme of things, we are blessed to have her close!  We will be meeting up with her at the State Fair tonight! So excited!!!! Grace is set, too, for school! She is going in to 10th grade and has spent most of the summer dancing! I enjoyed watching her dance/cheer at the first football game last night! Nothing makes me more happy than knowing my girls are happy & enjoying themselves! I love my girls {and worry about them} soo much! I am sure many of you can relate!!!! Luckily, we have handwork to keep busy with, right?!!!

As always, thanks so very much for your support & encouragement both in my personal life & professional! You know I love sharing the ups & downs with you! That's what makes this journey so special! I hope you all have a fantastic & safe Holiday weekend!!! We have no plans… just hanging out together at home & at work!!! Life is good! Be sure to head over to our FB page and leave a comment for a chance to win a wool bundle! You are going to LOVE it!!!!! All my best… Stacy

I will be turning the original {larger} space back into a retail space & open it up to the public & my AMAZING Events!!!  This is where you all come in!!!!  I need to know what you would love to have me do with the space!  There are SOOO many options, that I don't even know where to begin!  And yes, there is a big classroom so we have options!  Are we excited or what???

Are we ready for "LUCKY" Friday pattern giveaway over on our FB page?!?  I felt like Santa sending out lots of products to the LF winners this week!!!  I love it!  Check those mailboxes... Lots of goods are on the "sleigh" heading your way!!!

Before I go any further... I can't wait to share this fantastic NEWS with you!  I know many of you have been waiting with anticipation for new fabric line(s) from me!!  Well... I'm blessed to be given opportunities to work with people who believe in & support my vision!  Great things are on the horizon gals... I LOVE fresh starts!!!!

Ok... I did it!  I got out all your goods but 5 orders (waiting on wool for kits)!!! I am old school and manually do everything...which also means going to the post office to ship them!  The postmasters have been soooo awesome about working with the volume of my packages {twice a day} for the last 2 weeks!  I'm so grateful!  I'm bringing them a treat tomorrow since they graciously put up with totes & totes of orders to ship and even thanked me for being so great/easy to work with!  So sweet!  And on that note... I don't know how the postmasters do it during this hectic time of year!!!  I can't believe how impatient & not polite folks are!  I say spread good cheer & make it merry!!!  So big thanks to the Fridley PO crew!  You guys ROCK!!!!

This weekend I'll be putting up more kits & the new Simply Vintage magazine online!  I had to cut more kits {since our lovely website oversold the quantity I put available}!  So while I was cutting... I cut more kits for the Truck Full of Joy pattern, that sold out right away!  So be sure to keep an eye out this weekend for that along with more goodies!!!  I also cut more BOM, Snowmen Sock and Americana Crow on Spool kits... those are available now!

Thanks for making my Sunday last weekend over on our FB page!  Your comments were awesome!  I felt so much better when I realized I wasn't the only one who hadn't put the tree up yet!  I tell Ya- I shouldn't even look on Instagram or Pinterest...  Some have been posting their Holiday decorating for weeks!!!  How do they to it????  I'm just happy we got the tree up & decorated!!!!  Yeehaw!!!!  So that's my "holiday" update!  Keep sharing your pics!  I love seeing them so much!!!

In family news... Grace went ice skating for the first time and loved it!  Then both girls went to the KDWB 2015 Jingle Ball concert!  They had a great time and seen a variety of artists!  Then tomorrow I'm taking a day off, having lunch with my hubby & then we're hitting a movie....and I'm going to a Christmas Event at church with my friend Shelly!!!  Should be a great start to the weekend!!!

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday & weekend!!!  Please pop me a comment or a pic over on our FB page for a chance to win these patterns!   Wonder what you've been up to!  I'm betting it's finishing up those Christmas gifts, baking cookies & spreading good cheer!!!!!

Quilt Exhibits & Fair FUN!

Today was too nice not to go to the fair!  Of course, we weren't the only ones thinking that!  Not sure...but I think over 115,000 were in attendance!  It was crazy crowded!  We did manage to spend some time checking out the exhibits!  I LOVE looking at all the amazing entries from quilting to canning!  This year did not disappoint!  The displays were stunning & quality was amazing!  Just wish I could get more/better pics...  Everything is enclosed, so it's very hard to get decent pics!  Here are a few for you to enjoy!  We really just enjoyed some fair food, games, friends & family time!  I think this trip was just what we needed to get out and enjoy!!!  Hannah also tried a new 2015 fair food!  It was a mac and cheese cupcake!  She thought it was good!!!   I'm still pondering what new food I'm going to try!  It always amazes me how they keep coming up with so many new & creative foods!  They even had Typsy Pies!  Pies made with alcohol! Lol!  I think we should put our heads together and come up with a new fair food!  After all... Sweet Martha's Cookies grossed $3 million last year alone!  Not too shabby for 11 days of work!!!!! 😀😀😀

NEW FREE Pattern Block 8

*SURPRISE* I have a surprise for you! I have the NEW "Mystery" BOM ready early, for "LUCKY" Friday! I am giving away KITS for this block on this super fantastic LUCKY FRIDAY over here https://www.facebook.com/buttermilkbasin/posts/958234764197014! How cool is that!!!! Hope you are excited! I think it is pretty darn cute myself!!!

This week was good all around!!! Work flew by and today we cleaned and moved two rooms around at the shop! Then before my husband came after work to load up the truck, {to take some props and goods we wanted out of the shop} I decided to draw up the new BOM... I had it drawn, fused & scanned in before he got there! I was on fire! {Never mess with a determined woman!.. Isn't that what they say?!?! lol} Then we brought the goods to the shed, grabbed some supper, bought shoes for the wedding & I came home and stitched the new BOM as my cats kept grabbing my thread and jumping up and off the table! What some stinkers!

Speaking of cats! First, I have good news regarding Oliver {he's better then ever!!!} and Bella! After 3 LONG months... Bella snapped out of her "drama" and decided Oliver is ok! It blows our mind. Just like that, she went from hating him & being separated from him... to eating with him, laying on the same bed together, etc...and even stopped attacking him! So far, so good - but I am keeping my eyes on her! I just don't get why 3 days ago she decided to change her mind and "like" him! Crazy...but good!!!! Secondly, check out the cute pics of the girls at the Internet Cat Festival last night! They had such a fun time and got so much treats for the cats! What a great turn out too! 13,000! Gotta love those cat lovers!!!

This week I also got in more goods for the barn event! One thing I know you will like is the vintage metal tray that the Truck Full of Joy mat sits on! They are gorgeous! I also got in the coolest ruler stars, more vintage tin goods and more WOOL! Then for some reason I ordered a vintage light?!?! So I now have a cool light if you're looking for one! LOL! I also connected with my wood worker and she is making new products I designed, along with some we made for market for the event! There will be the black shelves that are featured on some of my new pattern covers, pedestal stands {that you may have seen in my pics from market}, wall pockets with feedsacks that you can do wool applique on. EXCITING! She is also making distressed paddle boards, mini 8X8 and 10x10 cool quilt stands to name a few. She will also be bringing a trailer with bigger furniture and homegrown pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks for all your fall decorating needs! I can't wait to see her goods and load up on some fall harvest goods! My FAV season!!! Super excited! So if you get an opportunity, come to the barn event! This year will be even better then last year! {And last year was pretty awesome!!!!!}

Hope you all have a great Friday and fun weekend!
Happy Stitching!

Bridal Shower part 2 & 3!

Welcome back to more pics & tidbits from the bridal I hosted....Oh Joy!  This vignette was just outside welcoming the guests as they arrived!  It looked amazing until I realized the vintage watering can had a slow leak in it!!! Lol!  But hey- if that was the big glitch of the day.., I think I can handle it!!!  Each of the tables had a grouping of succulents that doubled as prizes and love quotes, pictures of the couple or C & T letters for the bride and grooms initials!  Then of course...the lovely bride-to-be making her entrance and enjoying the first mimosa of the afternoon!  And a party would not be complete without some type of mints, right?!?

Of course the bridal shower would not be complete without a delicious spread of food and a grand finale of pie a la mode!  It was so fun to host this shower and Cassy and everyone sure enjoyed this special day!  Thanks for following along on my other creative ventures!!!  Have a great Wednesday!!!

Bridal shower I hosted part 1!

Welcome to a new week filled with endless possibilities!  I'm sure many of you missed my "Lucky" Friday or "CAT"-ur-day on the BB Facebook page!  I sure missed it!  I promise I will make up for it this week!!!

All I can say is that this week was a whirlwind, but so amazing at the same time!  After putting in 60 hours of work M-Th... {should have worked Friday too...}. I had to regroup & switch gears and put on my party planner hat as I was to host a bridal shower on Saturday afternoon for my sweet nephew's bride-to-be!  So around 7:30 Thursday night Hannah & I set the gears in motion!  I have to admit... It felt like I was on one of those completion shows where you get supplies a,b&c and then you have 36 hours to complete your project!  lol!  We wasted no time & got up early Friday morning, did our grocery shopping, hit 4 other stores for misc supplies that we needed.  Then we met George at the shed and picked up all our "props" ...and we finally started cooking at about 8 pm!  Hannah, Grace and I got all the food done and then Hannah & I stayed up wee late and got the majority of the decor/details finished up!  Luckily, earlier in the week we got our games printed off & picked up our prizes!  Thankfully, we had purchased all our gifts a couple weeks ago too for the bride!!!  A couple hours of sleep for me...and before I woke up- my hubby had completed a bunch of things for us!  Yeehaw!

Then next few hours is when then magic happened!  Everything fell beautifully into place!  I'm one of those people who doesn't make lists, preplan...I just gather up props/fabric/supplies and work on the fly!    Maybe because I don't have enough free time to think & worry!  Lol!!!  So... Here are a few pics from the lovely bridal shower {more to come!!!}.

Also, I hope you can forgive me if I missed an email or took an extra day to get the free pattern link working correctly on my site!  Sometimes, I too, have to take a step back and put things in perspective and realize all I can do is my best.   Even I need to take time to celebrate & enjoy special moments like these while I can, with those people who are near and dear to me!  My hope is that you, too, enjoy the moments rather than getting frustrated over a link that doesn't work!  In the big scheme of things... Life is too short not to enjoy!  More tomorrow!  PS!  And YES!!!  I did crash after the party and slept for 4 hours!  It's been a lazy Sunday too...   It felt good to relax with my fam, get Grace off to dance camp & snuggle with my kitties!!!!  See you tomorrow or later with more on my "Grow Love" themed shower and BB info!!!  Have a great week everyone!!!

Arson!

I thought today was suppose to be "Lucky" Friday?!?!  My early morning took a crazy turn as I was leaving work at 3:20 am.  As I was leaving I noticed smoke in my car windows.  I opened the door thinking it was maybe the charger burning?!?  Kept checking/called GW & 911.  Then I opened the door behind the drivers seat I noticed everything was burning- then it burst into flames.  I was trying to save important items (not a wise idea, I know)...but then decided I better shut the doors to try to contain it...  Next thing you know the cops, firemen, canine unit & investigators where on the seen... They believe it was arson (maybe kids or druggies looking for $) as the same thing happened right before I called in just a couple doors down behind the shop.  They sent some things into the BCA(?)...  They said it easily could have been on fire for a few hours....  Luckily, my car didn't blow up & catch the shop on fire (about 3 feet away)!  Still processing what happened...  Who would do this?!?!?  Lost a lot of "good stuff" from bolts of fabric, wool, models, new camera & gear...as I have a on the go studio in my car etc... Such a bummer!

Winner Winner!!!

Hello!!!  Before I got into my post... I have to share this darling picture with you that Hannah shared of her and her sister for National Siblings Day!
 I just love it - it makes me giggle!  I love my girls so much... I know many of you have had the opportunity to see then when we vend at shows or host events.  They really are sweet girls and I have had the pleasure to be right there along side of them as they grew into kind & caring young gals!  Hannah will be 16 next month and Grace is 13!  Such great ages!  Today we gave away their swing set... it was bittersweet....

I have to say I am overwhelmed & thrilled each week with your comments!  It is so cool that you take the time to comment and share a piece of your world with me!  I dig it!!!  I am also blown away with the emails & offerings to help me out and sew!  I am so excited to take the time to read thru the emails later tomorrow and connect with a few of you!  I will also keep all of the emails in case I need more help in the future!  Know I appreciate each of you taking the time to email me and offer to help!  You all ROCK in my books!

OH- The best part about the vintage sale yesterday was the chocolate chip/PB cupcake Sally bought me on the way out!  The show was pretty low key - I think because the Junk Bonanza is next weekend so everyone is prepping for that!  I don't know if I will be able to make it there or not - depends on how much work I get done {after I finish up prepping the taxes}.  Either way - stitching/sewing is my top priority!  I am focused!!!!  I can always play after market!  Speaking of taxes... let's just say it's moving along! LOL!

Ok- getting a bit tired so I think I am going to go and relax!  Thanks again for all your comments!  Some sure make me smile!  You are all too kind!!!  The random winner for this week is....MarianApril 10, 2015 at 3:14 PM

Love Spring stitching outside. Warm sun and cool air, listening to the birds and smelling the blooms. And working on a BB pattern! Please email us at orders@buttermilkbasin.com with your info!  Happy Sunday everyone!  :)

Memories & a Recipe!

Do you ever see something and instantly wish you could show someone it or share this experience with them?  Or know that person would love this or specifically the shop?  That's something that I've been experiencing a lot lately... Especially this weekend when GW and I were out and about!  All I could think about was my mom!  She would have loved this going road trippin with us... this place & their darling array of unique children's old toys & doll clothes!  She never passed up a vintage yo-yo quilt or stitchery piece!  And even as she grew older... she kept the childlike wonder dear to her heart!  I hope these little pieces spark a little childhood memory in each of us!  May your week be filled with joy & laughter!!!  {PS-I did buy the little metal kitchen strainer in the pic below and will think of mom when I set it out at each show to hold my business cards/flyers!  Miss you momma!!} xo

Here's also a neat recipe!  Can it get any better than gourmet Rice Krispie bars? Enjoy!
