Hey Everyone!  Up this week is one of you FAV giveaways!  Since so many of you enjoy the Live Each Season Mystery BOM, we always make sure to give away many kits of the new blocks as they are released!  If you are new to our Mystery BOM, you can hop on our website and print out a FREE pattern each month and at the end of the year, you will have 12 patterns that will be made into a quilt!  We also offer the kits for anyone who loves our look or just loves to get everything already to go each month!  We love giving you the option to make your handwork journey enjoyable!

WOOLSTOCK is FULL STEAM ahead!  As you can see by the video clip I just shared  on our Facebook page - that are rooms are so full, we can hardly move around the shop!  Each day the UPS & FEDEX guys are bring 6-9 boxes!  We had just cleaned the work room and had to store boxes in there too now!!!!  The shop gals are starting to think I am crazy for ordering in all this stuff (good stuff!!)! LOL!  We sure hope you gals are coming to “SHOP until your heart is content” as we are letting you all have first dibs before we snatch up some of the COOOOOOL pieces got in!  We also have seasonal goods coming in too!  For those of you who LOVE Christmas… I have ordered in some of my FAV items that I would buy and display with in my home!  Maybe I will try to show you some of the Holiday goods next week!  So, plan that road trip gals and come hang out with us at the BASIN!  We promise a good time!  AND…. YOU CAN STILL SIGN UP FOR THE 3 DAY WORKSHOP with My SHOP GALS & I!!!!!  Jodi is cooking all homemade meals for you, Dawn is making AMAZING name tags & center pieces that you will NOT want to discard!  These will be the COOLEST name tags you have ever received!  {I know, because she sent me mine!!!!!!}  You also get to vote & see all the Quilts-On-A-Stick in person and be inspired!  If that is not enough, the projects, treats, desserts & party are over the top exciting!  Come join us!  We would LOVE to see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Did I mention there will be chair massages just for you too????

New designs, we are working diligently on new designs!  We will be releasing them at WOOLSTOCK at the shop.  The following week… we will be having our FALL INTO AUTUMN Online Event!  So please be sure to watch for more details on that as we want to make sure all you out of town followers have the options to get some of the NEW goods too!!!!  We would never forget you, as you are just as important to us!!!!!  I am going to TRY to offer extra goods that we don’t usually carry online and only get in for events.  The stickler is shipping.  Some of the items are big and bulky so if you can, I would try to come to the shop first, and if that doesn’t work hop online the following week and see what we can handle shipping!

Did you not LOVE those FUN wool pumpkins?  Are you wondering what the BOM is going to look like???  We couldn’t wait to share a few of the blocks with you!  Until WOOLSTOCK.. Isn’t this fall weather lovely?  Juel heard on the news that this will be one of the most beautiful falls we will experience here in MN!  She also said the colors will be spectacular too!  We usually don’t have time to get away since it is one of our busiest times of year… but I am thinking a road trip would be fun so see all the beautiful shades of autumn!  After all,… it is my FAV season!  Pumpkin Everything is how I role!!!  I see they even have the pumpkin Blizzard back at the Dairy Queen across the street!!!!!  I have never had one – but it is on my list for this year!!!

What a fantastic week this has been!  I can't believe Saturday is here already!  It flew…. by!  This week we redid the shop!  It looks great!  We also added our coffee bar, our succulent display (that we are giving away to each customer), a "treat" station in the main area and found time to get the Hexi Door Greeter, Hexi Mat, 5 (Very limited quantity) spring wool bundles ready for you & we are also releasing Block 2 of our Bringing Home the Tree BOM!  So be sure to head over to our website for some awesome goods!  AND oh… We are also offering our 3 Spring Eggs/ Make it Take it KITS online (while supplies last)!    The FUN never ends at the BASIN!!!!!!!!!

We have been so busy at our retail shop these last 2 days!  Thanks everyone for coming out!  Today will be our busiest day, with 3 classes filling the day!  We LOVE seeing everyone!  The coffee bar is working out great!  Everyone is loving it!  As you walk in, you are now greeted with a table/chairs and a display of sweet treats!  We LOVE how that turned out!  We are also watering, wrapping & giving away succulents left and right!  You know me - I am always finding something new to give away!  Succulents are a FAV of mine…. why not share my love for them with everyone!!! We will be giving them away today too… so stop in!!!

The new HEXI designs are adorable!  I was not a huge spring fan… but this year has changed that!  I am having a blast designing "cute", softer designs that include bunnies, chicks & eggs!  These new HEXI designs may be my FAV yet!  We have patterns & KITS on the website now! 

We also added the next block (truck block) in our Bringing Home the Tree BOM.  The kit is stunning!  We are hearing so much great feedback from our kits!  Everyone LOVES our color palette and are excited to get a kit that looks like our model!  Always know that you will ALWAYS get a kit as close to our color palette as we can get!  That is something that we take pride in and will not waver on! 

Next week is a BIG week at the Basin! There are a couple things going on that I have to "keep under my hat"…  I can't wait to share it with you when I can!  In just 3 weeks, I am able to share some FANTASTIC news with you regarding my fabric line!  You will all be SUPER SURPRISED & VERY EXCITED!  So let the countdown begin!!!!!!   

On the home front, Hannah has a robotics comp this weekend.  Today GW and I went down and watched the matches.  George will go back today while I'm at the shop!  Grace is busy with Lacrosse, her social life & received an academic award.  Life is GOOD!  Very thankful!

On the shop front… We keep meeting our deadlines, kitting TONS of new projects/kits & are having a blast doing it at the shop!  We are also getting in tons of wool, fabrics & more threads!  We can't wait to get these on the web for you to enjoy!  We also stumbled upon some fantastic trims that we know you will LOVE!!!   BTW- I typically don't mention anything… but we have been having BIG issues with receiving  your orders from our website… So just know we have many tickets in to our host, Like Sew Websites- to FIX our site to make everything work properly to avoid delays and much more!

SPRING CLEANING SALE NEXT WEEK:  I am running out of ROOM in the shop & the workroom!  So it is time to MOVE some AWESOME goods!  I will be starting to put some great deals on the website next week.  Many things are VERY LIMITED, but I will still be putting them on there!  We will be having pattern grab bags, half priced books, cheap pattern sets, great deals on kits that are out of season & more!  I will put things on whenever I have time!

I am SWAMPED!  All I seem to do is "HOP" from deadline to deadline! LOL!  I just finish one and 2 more are sprung on me!  I just got notification that I have to submit 2 more lines of fabric by April 1st!  YIKES!  There is SEW much that goes on behind the scenes!  One day I would LOVE to share that with you!  The shop is also getting a couple of facelifts here and there!  Every once and awhile you just need to refresh things!

NEW BLOCK OF THE MONTHS COMING!  Next week we will be releasing the 1st Block of our SUMMER BOM!   It will be a 7 block quilt.  We will be offering it for 6 months!  We will not be releasing it in pattern form… you will only be able to purchase it as a kit.  It is an exclusive just for YOU!!!!  I don't have a NAME for it… so I am hoping you gals will help me come up with an awesome SUMMER themed name for it!

INTERNATIONAL SPRING MARKET!  Well…. I was going, then I was not… and now I AM exhibiting!  You know what that means… MORE NEW GOODS!  Market is in St. Louis and always falls on my daughter's birthday, prom & robotics competition.  I PROMISED my daughter that we will be here for it this year so… we will be driving down, setting up the booth, flying back, enjoying all the moments we can with her, including helping her get ready for prom and then fly back for the last day, work the show and drive back!  It will be expensive & chaotic… but SOOOO worth it!  First off, I am a MOMMA… and I LOVE being one!!!!!!!!!!

On the HOME front!  The girls are on SPRING BREAK!  Grace and her friend Elsie are working for some "cha ching" over the break!  They both have BIG plans of buying a car for when they get their licenses!!! LOL!  They even beat me to work today!!!!  Hannah is under the weather and resting!  We have no big plans… just looking forward to spending time together!  We are so busy…. so this will be a nice blessing!  George and I are going to the Miranda Lambert concert tonight if we are both are up for it!  The viruses are still lingering in us!  But, it would be nice to enjoy an evening with my honey!!!!

Since we used some fun thread on this one.... and will continue to use more of the same thread in the next 2 blocks, we will be adding a thread kit hopefully next week {or once all the threads come in}!  I used some of the new wool thread along with some gorgeous hand dyes from various companies.  We will be combining these into one set for the “Spring” row!  Be sure to keep an eye out for that too!

Next week we will be revealing 2 more FANTASTIC WOOL monthly series and our WOOL Club.  We have a big surprise in store for those of you who sign up for both wool series!  They are not block of the month’s – they are standalone projects that are monthly themed!  We have gone out of the box on these too!  Friday can’t come soon enough!  I want to share them with you right now!!!!  {But the shop girls won’t let me!!! LOL!}  And the WOOL Club… You will be able to sign up for an automatic monthly shipment of wools that will be shipped to you once a month!  These wools will be yummy and monthly theme related!  I will be hand picking each piece for the bundles myself!!!  SO EXCITED!  

Speaking of shop gals!  We have completely revamped almost every area here along with our procedures…. All geared to better serve you and your needs!  Kelly has been back 2 days this week and April dove right into the kitting!  Angela is now doing all our printing and Jodi will be your go to gal for all your ordering/shipping needs!  Of course, I am here too if you need me!!!!!!!!!!!!  LOL!  

Next weekend the shop will be open for all you locals!  We will be open Thurs-Sat.  I will the shop hours on our calendar on our website.  Be sure to look for all the details!   We will be having our monthly party and doing a small project again!  I think I will continue doing them as ”freebies” for now!  That may change at some point down the road!

WOOLSTOCK AND…. We can’t believe it!  People are already calling to sign up for WOOLSTOCK without any info ready!  We took 2 more today!  So if you want to attend WOOLSTOCK… I would put it on your radar!  ALSO…. We are doing a summer version in JUNE or Early July!  Registration for that one will start next week!  I will have everything available on our website for that next FRIDAY!  Since MN winters can be unpredictable we decided March was not a good time to host an event!  So… summer it is!

On the home front…. All is well!  I am trying to change my "sleep" or lack of sleep hours and had been making progress until tonight... when 3 hours later... after much website issues... the NEW BOM is up!  Enough said! LOL!  This week we attended Hannah’s orchestra concert and plan to go to Gracie’s dance comp on Saturday!  The girls have been super busy, as always!!  Hannah’s robotic comp game was revealed, so they have started getting their plan to build their robot.  She has it every day from 6—9 and all day on Saturdays!  They have 6 weeks to build it and get it ready to compete!  Exciting!  Grace has torn muscle :( so I have been taking her to have it worked on so she can be ready for state comps coming up!  Tomorrow is DATE night with my hubby!  We are going to the Wolves game!  I love watching them play hoops!!!  Look for us on TV!  We are in the 2nd row behind the players!!! LOL!  Usually the one with a Diet Coke in my hand!!!!!

Ok – I best get to bed!!! But OH... Ready for our 2017 Mystery BOM & Lucky Friday Giveaway?!

Happy NEW Year!  Let's kick off 2017 with an awesome giveaway over on our Favebook Page!!!!  Today is "LUCKY" Friday and we want to make this another great year of inspiring, creating & giving!  With the New Year, comes another NEW {FREE} MYSTERY BOM!  So this week… {before block 1 is revealed next Friday} … we will be giving away 12 Mystery Block 1 kits of our new "LIVE EACH DAY" Seasonal Row themed Mystery BOM!  This BOM was inspired by Henry David Thoreau's quote, as shown in the picture!  {Another one of his quotes graces my blog header!!!}  I know it is intended to be a simple reminder to live & experience each season fully as it passes.  To me, it symbolizes enjoying & embracing the seasons in one's life!  Before you know it, we will be on to another "season or chapter" in our lives… so let this be a gentle reminder to be present, embrace each day and just enjoy!  BTW, this BOM is stunning!  I have included the general layout/diagram so you can have a visual!  I can't wait to create this quilt through the seasons with each of you!!

I am sorry it has been awhile since I posted… I have to say December was a whirlwind!  It started out with teaching out of state, a mini vacation with my husband and…. wait for it… fighting a nasty virus through the Holiday Seasons.  Of the 4 of us… I got hit the hardest L!  I am happy to say that I have one more day of antibiotics and that I am FINALLY starting to feel myself again!  Being sick did force me to relax, enjoy time with the fam & allow me to watch HGTV, Joanna, House Hunters & Property Brothers!  LOL!  Even though we took turns being under the weather over the Holidays… we did manage to make some great memories, enjoy my family's favorite dishes, bake cookies with the girls & spend time with those dear to our hearts!  This was the first year my brother and his wife came down for Christmas!  It was so special!  As many of you know… with loss of parents & grandparents… the Holidays aren't quite the same… so this really was a great way to wrap up 2016 with them being here to celebrate with us!  How did your Holidays go?  I sure hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!!!!??

On the shop front… December proved to be a hard month to get through.  We did end up slowing down to regroup & get caught up!  But no need to worry!  We are almost back at full strength at the shop, too!  Kelly's ankle is healing and she is coming back on Monday!  Yeehaw! And… Liz {who was a stay at home mom}, ended up going back to being a stay at home mom… which opened the door to hire April!  She has been a longtime customer who recently retired!  I am thrilled to say that things always have a way of working out for me & the Basin!  I am blessed! 

Today marks another new "season" at the Basin. Big changes are happening and today is the day it all starts!  We will first celebrate the Holidays with a luncheon & then I will be laying out all the NEW & EXCITING things I have planned for BB this year to the shop gals!  {Wish me luck!!!!!}  It is going to be ONE AMAZING YEAR…. and I CAN'T WAIT to share the details with you starting next week!  I can tell you that we did decide to kit up the Bringing Home the Tree BOM!  I know that is what many of you have been waiting to hear!!! We will have lots to share with you next week!  So be ready!

5 Days! Shop Opens! Giveaway!

Hey! Hey!  What a beautiful "LUCKY" Friday today is!

 We are excited to giveaway sets of these fun, fall patterns over on our Facebook page!  We are also finally able to get the fall truck kit winners out, too - since our backing wool is back in stock!!!!  Whohoo!!!!!!  I can't believe the amount of wool we go through on a weekly basis!  Tons!!!!!

I'm keeping this short, as I'm burning the midnight oil & need to shut down the 50 "open tabs" I have in my head!  Lol!  Way too much going on to even mention, with the shop opening & WOOLSTOCK happening next week!  It is all very exciting!!!!  Soooo exciting, that I can hardly sleep!  I was up again late last night until my husband got up for work at 5:45!!!!  I think the shop gals could tell I was a little silly today due to lack of sleep!   😂😂😂 Oh, well... we had some good chuckles over it!!!!

So here are a few bullet points for this weekly wrap up!

1.  We finished up NEW patterns & kits for the opening next week!  You're going to LOVE them!!!!!!  

2.  We will also be showcasing our "CAMP" Basin next week!  The 1st project is AWESOME!  More info next week!  If you come to the shop... you can see our cute "CAMP" Basin display & project!  

3.  Our Quilt-on-a-Stick contest is going to be so fun to vote on!  The quilts are stinkin CUTE!  Today is the last day to send off your quilt, so we can be sure to get it in time!

4.  Our group of 8 Australians are in the US!  Can't wait to see them next week!

5.  Next week also starts our ONLINE event for fall!  It will be very similar to our "Christmas in July" Event!  We LOVE our online shoppers and want to make sure you experience a "little fun" too, during this exciting time at the Basin!!

6.  We are still unpacking orders that keep coming in!  Some that I ordered is for Christmas... So now I need to find room to store those until a later date!  Yikes!  Cool goods, though! 

7.  We have a "PREVIEW" night on Wednesday next week at the shop!  I'll be serving goodies, too, while you mingle!

8.  The girls started school this week!  Hannah is a senior & is a peer mentor... while Grace is a Freshman!  This is the 1st time in years that they have been in the same school together!  They are loving it!

Alright... I better wrap it up, give my kitties some love & hit the hay!  If you're wondering what's shakin for me this weekend?!?... It's finishing setting up the shop!  I have my SIL, Kelly & the fam helping me!  I'm SEW grateful!!!!!  I promise I'll post picks on Sunday for you, once it's more complete!  I can't believe WOOLSTOCK is almost here!  Wowza!  Good times on the horizon!!!! Yeehaw!!!!!!

This is the busiest time of year for us at the Basin!  Plus, all your FAV quilt shops are vending at their local shows and we need to make sure their needs are met too!  We are beyond busy, but are happy to say we LOVE it!  We can't wait to come to work each day and see what awaits us!  We also have been busy planning another ONLINE EVENT!  We will be having a "FALL" in to September Event!  It will be very similar to our Christmas in July Event - except FALL themed!  Be sure to mark your calendar as many things sold out quickly last round!  It will be held the same time as our WOOLSTOCK Event!  So for those of you who are not coming, this should brighten your day!  We don't want you to think we forgot about you!!!!!

On the home front, if I thought it was busy at the shop… the girls are sure keeping me on my toes!  Grace & Hannah have started their fall activities, took their school pics/orientation, and are finished with school shopping!  We are still trying to find time to get Hannah's grad pics done!  Hannah continues to check out colleges…  she is going to check out Iowa State next week!  She just finished her behind the wheel, so up next is test time!  Meanwhile, we are getting some work done on the house {it is a HOT mess right now!}!!!  LOL!  Can anyone else relate to the chaos!!!???  Believe me… our lives are not "Instagram" perfect like you see from many on there!!!  I look at those pics and wonder how some people do it!  I am just happy if the dishes get done and the pets get fed!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday kicked off the MN State Fair!  First time in years I did not make it there… I was too busy cutting kits!  However, we are going to meet my SIL, drop off kits with her to package & then we will be heading to the fair!  I can't wait!  It is my FAV time of year!!!!

Quilt-on-a-Stick Contest & "LUCKY" Friday Giveaway!

Hello!!!! WOWZA!  Is it already "LUCKY" Friday???  Do you remember those days when you sat in class and thought the bell would never ring?!?!  How I would love to get those days back!  I swear, I blink, and the week is over!! 

I am excited though, for today!  I have been waiting impatiently {lol} to post about Buttermilk Basin's first ever "Quilt-on-a-Stick" contest!  What inspired this, you may ask???  Well, if you don't know… my family & I are avid fair goers!  I grew up with Minnesota's best County Fair in Roseau!  This was the BIGGEST event of the summer!  My great grandma Lily & I would sit on the porch and watch for the fair trucks to come to town!!!  It was sooo exciting!  As I got older, I became very active in 4-H and earned many grand & reserve awards at the fair.  Winning those awards also earned me yearly trips down {7 hour plus drive} to the Minnesota State Fair!  This tradition started in 5th grade and is still going strong! 

At our MN State Fair, like many other fairs…. everything is better on a stick!  The "stick" concept is so popular, that they even created a "Quilt-on-a-Stick" category to exhibit in at the fair!  I fell in LOVE with the small quilts on a paint stir stick last year and knew we had to enjoy & celebrate this grand time of year, with our own "Quilt-on-a-Stick" contest!  I am so excited to give some pretty hefty awards in the form of Buttermilk Basin gift certificates… to 1st, 2nd & 3rd places!  The top prize is $150.00, followed by $100.00 & $50.00.  All quilts need to be mailed or dropped off at the shop by Sept 9th!  We will display them all at our WOOLSTOCK event at the shop {which will be open to the public} and everyone can vote for their FAV quilts during that time!  Awards will be given out that weekend!  {Sept 14th-17th!}  We hope each of you will get creative {feel free to use out patterns, too!} & enter your quilt in our awesome contest!!!  The theme is Autumn Splendor, the size is 8X9 inches and it must include wool somewhere on the quilt!!!!  More info is available on the website!  I am SOOO excited!  I CAN'T wait to see your quilts & post about the quilts as the event draws near!

On the shop front… We continue prepping for the opening of the shop & our biggest event of the year… WOOLSTOCK!  If you are looking for WOOL, fabric, yard dyes & wovens, kits, floss {in various colors & by various vendors}, hand dyed velvet, patterns, home décor, seasonal goods, display pieces that you see in our pictures… this is the EVENT for you!  Also, we will only be opening up our shop for one BIG weekend a month.  We haven't figured out if we will have any weekly hours or not yet, so be sure to mark your calendar to come, shop & join a club!!!  We know you will LOVE it and be inspired!!!  Plus, you can check out our new bathrooms, roof, sidewalks & parking lot!!! LOL!  I don't think it can get more exciting than that!!!!!! J  OH… we might also set up a tent for Make it, Take it's out in the lot!!!  Go BIG or go home, right!!!!

On the home front, it has been another busy week with the kids!  Last night we brought the girls and friends to a neighboring suburb to participate in the Stockyard Days parade!  It was so fun to see Grace dancing in the parade & Hannah walking {and passing out candy} with the robotics team!  Everyone had a great time and we look forward to the next one coming up!  Today I have a dental appt, I am having pain where that tooth was extracted!!! GRRRR!  Then I head out tomorrow for Salt Lake again to teach at My Girlfriend's Quilt Shop in Logan!  They have a HUGE group of gals signed up!  It is going to be fantastic!  On the flip side, George will be taking Hannah out of town to check out a college!  {This is really happening!}  I just know I will be a hot mess this year!  I can't believe she will be entering her senior year soon!!!!!  Where did the time go???

OK… Back to business… Here is this week's "LUCKY" Friday giveaway!  It is a good one filled with woolly sheep goodness!!!  We have been shipping out a ton of LF goods these days!  I am soo glad you all check in regularly, see if you are a winner & call us with your info!  We are still waiting on wool for 3 Trucks all Around winners… We hope it comes in tomorrow, so we can get those out!  We are also excited to share that we have a new computer system set up, the info email on the website is back up {we just need Comcast to come and switch the internet to the new room so we can respond!}… and we are in the process of learning a new shipping process!  Again, we are always trying new things & ways to better meet your needs!  It is always a work in progress!!!

We are so loving this new truck series!  I am having so much fun designing them each month and sharing them with you!  This month's design captured the essence of spring and included fluffy golden yellow chicks, a truck full of carrots {with super cool tops}, a little bunny anxiously awaiting for the "special delivery" & a basket full of spring!!!!!  We have the pattern & kits available on the site...   The gals all fell in love with the sweetness of this one!  The colors of wools are stunning!!!!  I would recommend a kit this time as it uses some unusual colors of wool!

This week we ROCKED it at the shop!  Everything is going great!  The paint got delivered today!   We are anxiously awaiting for the walls to be painted!  So now it won't be long before we can expand into the new space!   Kelly's husband will be making a huge cutting table for us!  Do any of you have any cool ideas/suggestions before we finalize the specs???  I know how clever many of you are!!!!!!

Today I am taking the day off and will be heading to the Junk Bonanza!  I am SOOO excited!  I really have not had a day to go junkin in quite some time!!!  This show is held in the spring and fall only... so if you snooze... you lose!  You know I am dying for a new prop or two... or three!!! {SHH... I told the shop gals I probably won't be going... they think I have enough "junk"!!!!}  They can find out that I went junk hunting after my damage is done :)  .... and I post my pics here!!! LOL!  And don't worry...I will be sharing my trip this weekend with all of you here... so be sure to check back!

This weekend brings lots of prepping/fusing for me as I am going down to St. Louis, to watch Hannah's team compete in Worlds for Robotics next week.  I need to get things set for the gals and get lots of handwork ready to keep me busy!  It is a 10 hour drive!  I am also hoping hit a few of my FAV shops along the way to MO!  {We will be taking the truck in case I "stumble" on a great find!!!}  I LOVE road tripping!  It is one of my FAV things to do!  Plus, has anyone ever been to too many quilt shops???
Before I wrap this up... I want to make sure and thank you all for all the great uplifting comments regarding my dad last week and also for sharing your stories of your sweet dad's with me!  It truly made a difficult day into a more positive and inspiring one!  You gals are the best!
