Happy Monday from the Basin! We've been a little quiet online lately, but for good reason-- we're busy getting ready for Market! Stacy and a crew will be in Portland next week for the International Quilt Market, so things have been a whirlwind around here packing, completing designs, sewing, gathering models-- and keeping up with our usual releases and orders too! We are excited to unveil all the NEW things we're working on!

Market Give Away! Photos & more!

Let's get these giveaways rockin over on the FB page!  Up for grabs tonight are 2 NEW Australian Virgin Wool Floss packs from Valdani.  They're new, colorfast & are perfect for wool appliqué!  Then I also picked up a bundle of hand dyed wool! The colors are muted and yummy!

Today was DAY 1 of market!  All I can say is I am having a blast!  Today I had the opportunity to meet so many AMAZING BB fans, supporters, voters {and no, I didn't win! But, I'm already a winner in life...so it's all good!  And having you gals in my life is the icing on the cake!!!  And no!!!  I have no desire to run for anything!!  Lol!  They were teasing me today!!!} & some of my FAV shop owners!  {This show is new to me, so I'm meeting many new gals!!}. I can't believe so many people read my blog and enjoy my work!  I'm humbled!  Wow!  We laughed, shared stories & had discussions about who's my biggest stalker!  Lol!  Seriously!  I love you gals!!!!  

Today I also got out a bit and had more fun meeting more cool vendors, & visiting {and buying antique quilt tops} with the antique quilt dealers here.  I typically never have time to look at them, much less shop!  But since fall market is slower in general... I enjoyed myself so much today!   Of course, (I'm Chatty Cathy here!) so I kept taking a couple steps and running into friends & my awesome shop owners!  Here's the shout out to Merry's Stitchin (like I promised!)!  She has a fantastic primitive shop in Iowa!  Her daughter is next to her and she is the one behind the Quilting Possibilities  patterns that you see everywhere!!!  I also met the gals behind the Row By Row & license makers for all those fantastic shop hops you all go to!  It's so cool to see all the shops signing up and getting their goods on order!  They {as well as myself} have some new & fun concepts in the works!  I'm not sure if I can mention anything?!?! but it involves wool!!!  I'll leave it at that!!!  I'm also giving a shout out to Pieceful  Gatherings quilt shop!  They are another great shop out of Illinois!  We're trying to set something up where I come out there and teach!  So keep an eye out for that in the future!!!  

Kelly's also doing great at her first market!  It's been quite an experience!  She had a blast at Sample Spree, is in "eye candy overload" & loving all the flash flood warnings we're in down here!  We just got one that goes until 1:00 now!

Setting up at market!

Ok!  Booth is set up!  Here are a couple pics of the "setting up" of the show!  I believe there are 28 ish rows with many, many vendors with various booth sizes on each side of the isles!!  Things won't be complete until morning!  After everyone is set up, they will put down the carpet!  (Usually a bright blue!! Lol)!  Sample spree begins in 50 minutes!  Vendors will set up tables with their product on it and sell models, pattern sets, fabric bundles etc!  The women have been lined up for hours!  I'll take a pic of all of them once we get up there!  It's gonna be wild in there tonight!!!!

Market in Houston! Giveaways coming!

Greetings from Houston!  It's "LUCKY" Friday over on oir FB page!  And it's going to be a great weekend of "luckiness" all around!  Since I'm here at International Quilt Market... I'll be picking up NEW patterns and such from some very amazing designers/companies!  So keep an eye out for the "LUCKY" Friday logo in pictures, because I will randomly be giving away those goods throughout the next several days {on oir FB page} instead of today {since I just flew into town}!!!  I'll also do my best to share my journey at market and festival with you!  Any special requests to things you'd like to see pics of or read about?  Let me know!!!

Tomorrow we will pick up our box of minimal table top displays!  If you know me- you know I love my PROPS!  So having a simple booth is going to be sooooo hard for me!!!  But- in a few days my husband will be here with the truck & trailer and I will have props for the 2nd show!  Yeehaw!  I seriously can't believe I "let go" and flew in with my booth in bags!  Crazy!!! 😂😂😂

On the flip side...we've only been here a couple of hours and we already realized a couple of things...

A- You can still rock capris, flip flops  and a sweatshirt {with no make up on & hair in a pony} in a fancy hotel! 

B-A pizza bagel & chocolate chip muffin beats out a seafood meal {in the rotating restaurant on the top floor} any day!

C-We LOVE the Texas accents!!!!

D-They don't know what "pop" is!!!!

...I'm sure there will be more to add to this last as the days go by!!!  I'll keep you posted!!!! Lol!

I'm off to relax!  Gotta start catching up on some lost sleep over the past couple of weeks!!!  Last night I didn't even sleep because I was going over everything & making sure I got everything together for both shows!  Glad to be here and ready to get the ball rolling!  See you tomorrow!!!  

60 NEW Designs & NEW Mystery Block for May!

HELLO!  I am BACK!  I am pumped!  Market was a HUGE success in so many ways!  I hope to tell you more about it in the days to follow!  But right now, we need to focus on "LUCKY" Friday & the release of the May "Mystery" BOM!  What a Friday this is going to be!!! 

 

First off, I have to let you know that almost all the NEW patterns {I think 58 were uploaded!!} are now available to order on the website!!!!  www.buttermilkbasin.com  There are 5 categories with them in, so please make sure and check out the top few sections so you don't miss any!  There are a few more designs that will be photographed and ready to print soon!  I know many of you want order them as you have seen the pics!  I really wish you all could see just how gorgeous everything is in person!  The new designs were so well received and everyone raved over them!!!  It is nice to know all our hard work paid off!!!!

 

  

I know many of you are waiting to order the new fabric line!  I am expecting my bolts in any day and will get those on there asap!  My Humble Beginnings fabric line was also a big hit at market! Keep an eye out at your local quilt shop!  Many of your FAV shop owners will be carrying it!   I can't wait to see what each of you do with the new fabric!  Be sure to post lots of pics!  Super excited!

 

The new "Mystery" BOM is now ready to go!  It was inspired by my big boy Oliver who is still on the mend... but doing so much better!!!!  I seen him laying by me and looking at the dried roses {from Mother's day}... and I thought how perfect!...  Stop and smell the flowers... So I hope this block reminds each of you to take time, relax & enjoy your journey!  PS- Oliver says thanks again for all the well wishes that keep coming his way!  He loves you all sooooo much!  Here is the link for the new block:  

 

I really am glad to be getting back into a "somewhat normal" routine!  I really have missed posting, sharing your work and connecting with each of you!  AND... Quilts for Market!

Hey!  Just picked up 3 quilts from the quilter!  I designed them to hang in my fabric manufacture's booth at market this week!  The quilts are on their way!!!  Please be sure to stop by Diamond Textiles and check them out!  They are based around her Primitive Collections!  She offers such a neat variety of cotton weaves fabrics!  It was so fun working with a new color palette!  Thanks to my lovely girls for bearing with the wind to snap a few quick photos with my phone before we sent them off!!!!  

After Market Party! Huge Success

Huge thanks to all of you amazing gals who took time out of your day to come and enjoy Millie P's After Market Party... with us MN designers!  We truly had such a great time catching up with each of you and seeing your familiar faces!  I'd also like to thank all the designers I shared the room with- you all were awesome and I'm excited to do this again next year with you!!!  Happy Sunday!

Just hanging with more Rock Stars!!

Here are a few more pics... Gail Pan again (one can never get too much of that girl!!!)  Marie-Claude Picon-Iperti who is the most gorgeous French gal you will ever meet!  She is so sweet, brought me some cool goods and I am happy to be working on a project with her!!!  Then, does anyone not know who Tim Holtz is?  He is just great!  Had a blast catching up with him talking about junking!  Ordered his fabric line too for the Basin!  And then the loveliest gals, also from France... My Simply Vintage Magazine gals!  I could just listen to them talk to me all day long!  I love those gals!  So yes, you can expect to see more of my designs in the upcoming issues!  I am a lucky, lucky girl to be able to hang with all these cool peeps!!!

Frineds from Far & Near!

Haha!!! If you don't know by now.. I am such a people person!  And in this industry I really have found some great gals that I am blessed to call my friend!  First off is Sheri from Calico Moon!  Do you see those awesome new hooked rug designs?  Well, guess who hooked them for me?  Miss Sheri!  If you love my work and primitive goodness... Go check out her facebook page Calico Moon!  You should see the cool stuff she does with my patterns!!!

 Then there are the Cali girls!!!  The first one on the left is Kathy from the Cottage at Cardiff Farms!  You should see her barn quilt!!  IT IS AWESOME!  She will be coming to my BARN EVENT and bringing some great models including that new quilt!  She is working hard to get it released in time for that event!  You all will love her!  Then there is Joan from Bits & Pieces by Joan.  She is just delightful!  Her and I go way back!  You might know her from those tall/skinny designs I have in frames with kits at the shops and shows!  She did come out with a few more new designs!!! And her son just got married!!! How exciting!  Then there is the adorable Suzanne from Suzanne's Art House!  I am in love with her new owl/crow patterns I picked up!  I even scored 2 models!!!  Can't wait to show you those!  And then there is my pal Gail from Gail Pan Designs... She is my FAV Aussie!  All I can say is that she is awesome and I am lucky to teach with her this fall at the Buggy Barn and see her again in October at market!  Did I mention she brought me candy from Australia!?! She has a new book out so please go check out her book and the other fabulous designers for their new product!   

Booth at Market Pictures!

I know this is what you all have been waiting for... Booth pics!!!  I am a girl who loves anything vintage!  As I mentioned before... I always bring wayyy too many props - but I would rather have too many then be short!  I just love the little cubby I scored for my Pinkeeps thru the Year!  That might have been my fav new piece.  I usually haul the heaviest sewing machine and stand I can find too!  LOL!  Among some of the 82 new designs there is a Basin Cotton Club (small, darling quilts), With thy Needle BOM (each block is displayed on a sewing keep made out of wool, cotton quilt or simply framed), Folkart Mats thru the Year (great new spin on the normal mat - check out the floss we used to feather stitch around the edges), Door Greeter bags, (made out of toweling which we will be selling on the site - they are adorable!), Basin Banners (which are wool bordered in cotton and they hang!)... There are also many stand alone projects in both cotton and wool.  I really feel we have something for everything with our new line!  They sold so great... Meet my SIL, KIM!

This market was the first time I flew in additional help!  I can not tell you how great it was!  Since GW has to spend as much time with the person as I do, we thought we would have his sister Kim come out and help us!  For her first rodeo, she did GREAT!  I know you all would love her!  Here we are at the wine bar while we waited for our table.  Sorry I can't remember the restaurant... but I can tell you they had the best gnocchi's I have ever had!  Totally melted in your mouth!

Sample Spree

For those of you have don't know what sample spree is... It is 2 hours of complete shopping madness!  It is held from 8-10 the evening before the show opens.  The pictures below don't even do it justice!  Shop owners rush in to get the latest samples, fabric bundles, kits and patterns to bring home with them to kick start the excitement of new product coming in!  Many shops bought every kit and patterns we had there!  We even sold out of quite a bit!  It was crazy busy those entire 2 hours!  Along with the kits, we sold Buttermilk Basin key fobs, wool, and funky hangers to go with our new lines!  We will be carrying all of this on the website as well!  Shown in the pics below are the new Basin Banners thru the year, Folkart Mats thru the year & Year of the Pinkeeps!
